Cairns

We flew from Sydney to Cairns yesterday and had some 'bush tucker' last night at Ochre - ate there with mom in 1997, actually - 'damper' (dense bread the cowboys used to cook on the campfire), 'bugs' (small lobsters), and kangaroo (which the girls tried and thought it tasted like steak, though they preferred their 'chook' (chicken). And, of course, ice cream - Kate liked the Boci (italian for kiss - hazelnut and chocolate). Highlight of their day was shinnying up some poles at the playground as they saw some Aboriginal children doing. Highlight of Karen's day is the weather is 90s and sunny. We're headed up the coast today north to the Daintree and the rainforest for a few days and likely off-line during that time, back in Port Douglas and exploring the reef next week!
