Tess' dad here...
We had a great time in San Francisco and welcomed the New Year with our customary root beer toast at midnight with Kristin Rickman and her family, and enjoyed lots of good ice cream, the aquarium, and the Bay!
Our flight went fairly quickly, and we spent the day at the bank opening accounts, wandering the Sydney waterfront and the gardens, (and King's Cross, with its adult shops), somehow managed to keep the girls awake until 8pm ;) - our hotel is in Woolloomooloo on a wharf.
Yesterday walked back through the park - lots of magpies and 'flying foxes' to take the ferry to the zoo - beautiful, hot day in the summer! Had my first burger with the big beet slice they like to add (skipped the egg - this time). Girls loved all the animals, saw a platypus, bilby, and many other natives besides the kangaroos, wallabys, and koalas.
Today we should get our cellphones organized, it's been strange not having one, but nice in a way also. I have to go to the medical board to complete my registration, so unlimited excitement today - tomorrow though we head to Cairns and the Great Barrier Reef for about 10 days of exploring the rainforest, reef, and surrounds.
The girls have been doing great and Karen is a trooper with her knee brace, it's slowly improving and she's eager to have it off (9 days and counting) - interestingly, they profess to be looking forward to school...and I'm excited about work
Happy New Year and more to come!
